Ms.PrettyfulGirl

I'm kind of back from my hiatus to bring you all the is great feature on Ms.PrettyfulGirl. She is a very talented make up artist with a great future ahead of her.  She is simple yet classy so give her some love if you happen to drop by her blog.

Hello, my Pretties!

Allow me to introduce myself.  My name is Lisa and I am a 30-something year old makeup addict/hoarder.  I used to think that was so weird but becoming a part of the "beauty community" has made me realize that I am a certain kind of "normal".

I blame my love of makeup on my mom.  She used to be an Avon lady when I was a kid.  When she'd give out the tiny lipstick samples to her customers, she'd always give me one.  The lightest, palest shade of pink she could find, naturally.  I remember putting on the lipstick and kissing the walls and doors of our home.  I just loved to see my lips imprinted on everything!  Highly unsanitary, I later came to find.

And just like that, makeup and me were bound for eternity.

So, I guess you can say that I have been intrigued by makeup for the better part of 20 some years.  Oh my wow, that makes me sound so old!  For Christmas or my birthday I'd always ask for those little fake makeup kits for girls.  There was always blue shadows and frosted pink lipstick.  Totally 80s.  So rad!

While I have always associated myself with makeup, it didn't really blow out of proportion until 2010.  I had seen a segment on Good Morning America on a mom who made a living off of YouTube.  Granted I was new to YouTube but I was reeled in.  I was a stay at home mom.  How could I make money of making stupid, time wasting, irrelevant videos?  (As you can see, I only used YouTube to watch the occasional prank gone wrong or stupid people doing supposedly funny stupid things.)

The lady was Lauren Luke.  Also known as Panacea81 on YouTube.  She was my makeup goddess!  I adored her.  From watching her makeup tutorials, I'd click on the next one and the next one and the next one...you know how it goes.  I was enthralled.  I was in deep.

And from there, I made myself a promise that I would start a blog on January 1st, 2011 and I did.  It's now February 14, 2013 and my blog is still alive and well.  It's been a slow climb but I am thrilled to have 292 subscribers.  That means everything to me.  I admit I have slowed down on my blogging  A LOT since my life keeps getting in the way.  We moved.  Bought a new house.  Got a part time job.  Raising 2 kids...girls...who are 7 and 3...who are also addicted to makeup. Two Shih Tuzs, 2 turtles, a lizard, and a sweet-tart.  I have my hands full but blogging is what I love to do so it will always be a part of my life.  It saddens me that I've been neglectful of my baby (blog) but I just hope it is a speed bump in my makeup world.

My makeup world revolves around Avon, Wet n Wild, L.A. Colors, E.L.F. to name a few.  I pride myself on being a budget friendly shopper.  I love discounts, clearance, and hate paying full price for anything!  I have come to see that many are wrapped up in name brands but you can find excellent products for a much cheaper price at times.  I'm here to help you find those diamonds in the rough.

I love makeup.  Plain and simple.  I am not ashamed.  Other people collect baseball cards, coins, stamps, dolls...I hoard makeup.  It may not be healthy by their standards but it makes me happy and that's all that matters to me.

I have my entire family and friends that support me.  Plus all the other addicts I have met on Facebook, Twitter, Blogger, Tumblr, Instagram... there are too many of you that can identify with me and I have never felt more at home.

Thank you!

Luv & Luk,
--L.

  1. Aw, thank you! I'm honored to have been featured on your blog :) Oh, and I'm not really a makeup artist. (I wish I was!) I'm just a girl who loves makeup to an unhealthy degree! Haha. Thanks so much!
