Makeup By Melaina !

I want to thank Melaina for allowing me to feature her, she is truly a talent in the Beauty Industry. Her pic posted above is really captivating isn't it? I love the glitter ! Her story is inspiring and it gives hope to those of us who aspire to be make up artists. Thank you again for doing this Melaina.
Makeup By Melaina : My name is Melaina Rosa-Montes I am 34 years old, I am from the Inland Empire/San Bernardino County Ca. I am a freelance MUA. I am also a hairstylist and specialized in basic and extreme color along with color correction, but my passion is and has always been makeup. I have always had a strong passion and addiction to makeup since I was a little girl. I can remember being 5 years old finding my mother’s makeup bag and sneaking a lipstick here and there, and giving makeovers to all of my dolls and stuffed animals. When I was 6 she gave me my first real makeup pallet. It was one of hers. I used sit and watch her put her makeup on so I already knew how to use it. I made my whole face up and thought to myself “wow I look so fancy and so beautiful like a model” That’s where it all started. As I got older I would always try to get away with wearing makeup to school and of course get in trouble for it. I have naturally large lips so my dad used to make fun of me saying I looked like I was “smoking Crayola’s” at school all day. I guess back then my technique was a little shaky.Since then I have grown to appreciate my features and embrace everything about myself. I would always do my own makeup for school dances, parties, and plays. Once I was a senior in high school I got the opportunity to attend cosmetology school at the ripe old age of 16. I fell in love with the beauty industry as a whole and gained a whole new perspective, love, and appreciation for the business and craft. Being so young in cosmetology school my friends would contract me to do their makeup and hair for parties and Halloween. Since then I have done quinceneras, weddings, bachelorette events, several school completions, and a few charitable events for my schools artistic team. I was one of the Captains for the makeup crew on the artistic team at Marinello’s school of beauty. We would perform our services for school plays, modeling events, fashion shows, completions, and charitable events/ About 3 years ago I got into face painting and special fx makeup which I have done on my children, myself, and a few customers for Halloween and special events. I am self-taught for the most part but I am now back in school attending My Beauty Mark Makeup Academy to get certified and gain some new skills on up and coming trends. I am striving to work on sets for film and television along with fashion. Apart from being a MUA, another goal of mine is to create my own brand and cosmetic line featuring all natural and cruelty free products. My inspiration comes from many different sources. I love all things art so my makeup looks go with my moods and how I feel that day, like an artist who paints from his heart, or a songwriter writes from experience. My daughter and her crazy fun sense of style inspire me to stay on top of trends and to always look my best. Bold Colors and anything that sparkles inspire my bright and bold looks. My “go to” “easy for me” favorite look is a dark smoky eye. I feel it looks the best for my face and skin tone, and makes me feel so sexy. My husband inspires me daily to always keep it “Hot” he loves when I dress up and put on my “full face” . My father was always passionate about his music career and lived it. He passed away this summer and in that has inspired me to go for it and do what I love and do it with passion. He was my biggest fan and supporter. My favorite MUA’s Well there are just too many that I am dearly fond of and that have inspired me to do what I do and aspire to become … Special FX: The legendary Rick Baker, Tom Savini, and Lon Chaney. Who can’t forget American Werewolf in London, Thriller, Hellboy (baker), the original Phantom of the Opera (chaney), Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead and Friday the 13th (Savini) Makeup Guru’s: These are MUA’s that I have been following either on you tube, facebook, or instagram… The beautiful and ever so sweet Kandee Johnson, her talent is endless and her style is so fun and playful, it goes well with her sweet bubbly, genuine personality. She is all things beauty industry, she can do it all! Her skills are limitless. I have learned so much from her she is my number 1 favorite artist. Of course let’s not forget the Queen of Blending, Sarah Chambers, and the oh so talented Rose Shock, and Under Blue Lights All of these Artists have such wonderful talent and all have very different looks to them and their work. They inspire me to stay on top of trends and techniques and to try new looks and be more confident in my work. My favorite brand Man this is a hard one… of course I will always love MAC I have been using MAC since 2003 and have been ever since. They have always had such amazing eye shadows and pigments. Their bold and blend able shades made me lover from the start. But Like I said this is hard, I have several “favorites “ . I have to say Urban Decay would take the lead so far. I have everything from skin care items to finishing products with makeup in between from them and I love them all. The Shadows are all so vibrant and pigmented and really blend able. They have the cutest pallets and collections. I love their packaging, that is what caught my eye and made me fall in love with them at first sight. Their pricing is reasonable, and I can find something for every occasion. For foundations and face primers I would have to say, Laura Mercier. Her products are a bit pricy but well worth it. Foundations leave you looking so flawless and feel so silky and yet gives you that HD quality coverage. I am new to the world of glitter but I quickly became a huge fan and was dying to get my hands on some, so I found Eye Kandy Cosmetics at IMATS 2013 and fell in love instantly and since then I have been using their “sprinkles” in almost every look I have created. My 2 new makeup finds and new favorites are Sauce Box Cosmetics and Sugarpill. Sauce Box has such a great quality for such a decent price. The pressed shadow pallets are huge! I love love love their Crème De La Crème pallet and have used it everyday since purchasing it for the past 2 weeks now and can’t seem to stay away from it. I purchased a few Sugarpill pressed shadows to try my hand at somemore bold , fun, and creative styles. They are hands down the best when it comes to quality bold, beautiful, bendable shades. I can’t wait to get a few of their pallets now., Makeup By Melaina My name is Melaina Rosa-Montes I am 34 years old, I am from the Inland Empire/San Bernardino County Ca. I am a freelance MUA. 1. Good article on Melaina, well written and very descriptive. However, I think it was repeated twice.
