Week 10: Masquerade Makeup Look

I wasn't sure if this fit into the Masquerade Makeup category but decided to post anyway. I didn't use anything specific, just Halloween makeup that I forgot I had. It's a pretty simple look if you have a picture to follow as an example. I am new to this type of look so I needed an example to go by.

My first question is, how long have you been in the jewelry business?

2. What prompted you to start Essem Design?

Well, I started out making gifts for friends for their birthdays, baby showers, etc, when someone suggested I sell them on Etsy. I have also been a freelance graphic designer for a long time, so I picked the name Essem (phonetics for my initials, SM) so that it could encompass my graphic design, my jewelry design, or anything else I create!

 

3. How long has the company been around?

It has been around for about 5 years, when I started designing jewelry. Even though I have been creative almost my whole life, that is when I really felt the need to start branding myself as an entity.

 

4. What inspires choices for what you make?

Oh man, I find inspiration in so many places… sometimes the jewelry materials speak to me; the pendants, the charms, the crystals all begging me to be put together, LOL. I also love getting inspiration from pop culture, tattoos, music, and even crazy things like Legos and Ouija boards.  

 

5. What is your most popular selling item?

One of my most popular items to date is my  “Love is a Battlefield” resin heart necklace. It has a real bullet inside resin with red glitter. Other than that, it is definitely custom acrylic necklaces. People love seeing their own ideas and words come to life in a necklace!

 

Basically, tell me the story of how Essem Design came to be.

Well, when I was making gifts for friends, I was making a lot of decoupaged frames and wall hangings. They were so fun and whimsical to make. Then I decided to experiment with pouring resin, and boy did I quickly get addicted to that! The possibilities with resin are endless and it was a medium that not too many people were working with on Etsy at the time. So I was loving making things people hadn’t seen in resin yet… like razorblades and bullets. After a few years, I had perfected the art of resin to the point where I am now writing a DIY resin book with my best friend. Always looking to evolve, my most recent venture in jewelry is designing laser cut acrylic pieces, which is also really fun!

 

What can we expect Essem Design in 2013 ?

2013 so far has been a year of expansion beyond Etsy. I now have my own online shop on my website with the help of Big Cartel and have also expanded onto Amazon.com. I am always coming out with new, fresh designs which are posted on my Facebook page weekly. Also, my DIY resin book called Dropping the Resin Bombshell will be out on shelves late this year!

 

Tell me a little about yourself.

I have a Bachelors of Fine Arts from UofA and am currently a work at home Mom just trying to live the dream. I have 2 kids and 2 Pit Bulls that keep me very busy when I’m not working on Essem! I feel very blessed to be doing something that I love while being able to be there for them. I have had great jobs as a Medical Assistant and as a store manager for Charlotte Russe, but nothing compares to being there to pick up my son from Kindergarten and hearing about his day!

 

What Ive been up to :)

Just want to say Hi and fill you all in on what I have been doing. My love for beauty and makeup will always be part of my life and I am still promoting for Makeup Fairyz but I've been involved in something a little different lately, Chola Pinup Street Team. For those of you who are familiar with either of these organizations, Chola Pinup is an organization that helps the under priviledged and underserved communty of Aztlan along with its surrounding communities. Chola Pinup Street Team help push events, photoshoots, etc for Chola Pinup. I am very honored to be part of something so worthwhile, I am still doing my features and all that but I'm giving this a little more attention right now because it's something I really believe in and I want to see it grow. Tips of the Trade !

One thing I really don’t like is when I get to thru half the day and my face is shiny. I have been wearing makeup since I was a teenager so I have learned a few tips over the years when it comes to skin and makeup.  One thing that I used to do for oil control during the day is put baby powder over my foundation. It kept my makeup looking fresh and shine free. I eventually went back to using a compact. I recommend using Rimmel products, if any of you is experiencing oily skin or makeup not staying on during the day. In my opinion, Rimmel is the best brand on the market today.  Another tip I have for you is for all day wear when it comes to lipstick, apply chapstick to your lips before applying your lipstick. It gives that extra protection while keeping your lipstick on your lips.

Week 8 : Red lips theme

This is as perfect to perfect lips that I could get. I used wet n wild spotlight red to create this look. Its simple yet very pinup style. Hope you all like it !

I have been making jewelry on & off since 1997.

I started Sweet Treats Jewelry after I purchased a pair of heels that had candy all over them and I wanted something to match, Not finding anything anywhere I decided to dabble in making cupcakes and lollipops... The sweet treats biz has grown from there,  I officially opened sweet treats in 2007. 

Pretty much anything inspires me, Most of the time its because I want something to coordinate with an outfit and if I love it I'm sure you're going to love it, so I make more. And other times it's just because I am playing with all my findings & charms and then something happens and then randomly a masterpiece is born that's my favorite!

To be honest I don't really have the most popular item , I would say my most popular anything would be custom so it really depends on what my customers are wanting at the time and then that becomes the most popular because everybody else might see it and want one for themselves. 

What you can expect in 2013 is, whatever is inspiring to me at the moment and what speaks to me through inspiration!

I am a mom of three, And a grandma of two...I enjoy spending as much time as I can with my family! I also adore cooking and decorating~

New Adventures and Products I've tried.

Good Afternoon, Hope all you moms had a wonderful Mother's Day. I just wanted to come on here and post what I have been doing lately and all the products I have been trying. I have always loved their liquid eyeliners because it stays on all day and the outrageous colors in stock are just cool. My all time favorite is of course Asphalt which is black. I was also sent Turquoise, which I loved just because the color was different and it basically went with whatever I was wearing at the time. Sometimes different is good. Hard Candy also has a lip stain, I usually don't wear lipstains just because they don't stay on, when I put this on it went on smooth and lasted all day so I was happy with this product. The best part about Hard Candy is that they are available at Wal-Mart for a very affordable price. Week 7 : Look inspired by a season

My look is a simple one. The season I chose was summer since its coming upon us so soon. I am once again using all products by Makeup Fairyz. Hope you like it!

 My first question is, how long have you been in the beauty business? I have been in the beauty business for over 4 years.  I started in cosmetology and a head on car accident with a drunk driver ended my long hours of doing hair.  I got into makeup and from there its been my life.  I am a freelance Makeup Artist I have done weddings and I love it!  I have been on youtube for over a year now & have spent so much money on lipsticks etc.  I decided to make my own lipstick line to represent me & bright bold colors are my thing.  My lipsticks range from Blue, Pink to Green!   2. What prompted you to start Prinsess cosmetics?  Prinsess Cosmetics came about after I started making lipsticks for myself.  I paid over $15.00 for a blue lipstick and I said wow I cant keep doing this.  So I decided to come up with my own bold line so I can bring affordable hard to find colors for the public!  3. How long has the company been around?  This company has been around for almost 6 months now but I have not brought it public until recently.   4. What inspires choices for what you post and other products?  I guess I would have to say my Youtube channel inspires me a lot Youtube.com/PrinsessBeautify is my channel that gave me all my ideas and dreams to be where I am today.   5. What is your most popular selling item?  My best selling lipstick is Classy people adore that color.  Judas is a emerald green and comes in 2nd place!   Basically, tell me the story of how Prinsess cosmetics came to be. What can we expect from Prinsess Cosmetics in 2013 ?  Prinsess Cosmetics is going to make its mark in 2013 its time for everyone to know about it.  Save money on higher end Lipsticks and buy mines its the same quality some say even better.  All my lipsticks have a silky creamy finish.  Tell me a little about yourself, My name is Classy Carmen also known on Youtube as PrinsessBeautify I have been on Youtube for over one year now.  I am a free lance makeup artist in Ohio for  2 years now.  Prinsess Cosmetics is a dream come true & I only hope to grow over the years and one day be as big as my favorite brand MAC cosmetics! 

Week 6 : Malefica Makeup

This week was a challenging one because I had never heard of Malefica Makeup before. I was looking at images on google and was amazed at some of the looks people had created. I did not have the time to go all out and do this extravagent look but I did do something Goth style so this is what I chose. Hope its acceptable.
